MYSTERIOUS HAPPENINGS |
An eerie silence seems to blanket the earth... The possibility that you're the only one on earth strikes you, but at that moment, the thought is not a particularly frightening one... Gazing out of the window, the sky seems a grayish, blue colour, flecked by fluffy clouds... And the clouds seem to gaze back at you...ever so near the earth... Darkness is gathering swiftly... dimming the harsh lines of reality... blurring all to a dreamlike haze... The leaves that frame the window wave with shattering fragility... their greenness adding colour to the sky... A strange earthly fragrance arises out of nowhere... It hangs in the air... still... sharp... strangely familiar... the smell of wet, fresh earth... Time seems to have disappeared from existence... it leaves behind a flowing beauty... that seems to gather up the secret treasures that lie in plain sight... Suddenly, the calm is broken... perhaps the earth has shattered... the vault of heaven has been pierced open... But darkness settles again... this time though...punctuated by a faint pitter pattering sound... and the sound creates a haven of safety... Ah yes, it is raining outside. |

You have to remember that that photograph was taken 35 years ago and long hair was de rigeur. If you didn't have long hair you were really a freak! Reminiscing..... I love it. I have a good life now but it is fantastic to remember how good those days were. And the more you remember, the more you remember. You lead your self through back alleys and cul de sacs that had been lost in the undergrowth. Do you always go like that with rain?

Your question got me thinking. Reminiscing helps you put the events in your life into perspective and to realise that what seemed insurmountable, traumatic and painful then, passed, got sorted and we moved on. It also reminds you how quickly we moved on. It tells me that we have a duty to ourselves if no one else to make the most of our time, to fill it. That's one reason I have forsaken TV; it pins you to one spot and requires no input, no involvement. Better to go for a walk with your own thoughts, someone else's or a good book. Even the bad times bring a smile to my face. I hope you have good things to reminisce about.
