AVACADOES AND APRICOTS
Here's a thought.
'Designer babies' are argued against vehemently, perhaps because it violates the concept of loving your kids unconditionally.
What about reversing it and asking a child if he's comfortable being liked for what he is (his parent's child) rather than for a specific quality with which he was created.

After all, it's considered more acceptable to like a person for being a reclusive genius than for being Einstien's cousin thrice removed, n'est-ce pas?

You know, unconditional love is so rare that it's a great safety net. But at times I really want to be liked for WHO I am and not by virtue of my relation with the concerned relatives.

hmmm...that's pretty deep. well, unconditional love comes with a condition : you have to be my daughter or son, my blood has to in some perhaps complicated way run through you...
